Only 2 Days Left!

The “Celebrating Late Summer” Giveaway ends on Saturday.

If you would like to enter for a chance to receive some late summer related goodies, see my original giveaway post for the details.

Giveaway Goin’ on!

I have 2 gift sets to give away that celebrate late summer. See the original post “Celebrating Late Summer” for the details.

Here is a how the gift idea started…

I have met many lovely hand soaps in my life but we are a foaming hand soap family. You may never have put that much energy into your soap preference, and to be honest, I didn’t either until I had kids.

Apparently bars of soap are tickly to little palms. I did not know that.

Bars of soap are very slippery to little hands. I figured that out immediately.

Pump soaps with a gel like soap leave huge glops of soap in my sink and cause me more frequent cleanings. That is a huge negative.

So, foaming hand soaps it is. They are not tickly, not slippery, not gloppy and aside from a tricky container once in a while, they are easy for little hands.

Now you know that foaming hand soaps are a must in our world. I have been treating our home to Bath & Body’s foaming hand soaps because you can get quite a deal. If you missed my previous post on their soap, here it is.

Recently I made an online purchase to replenish our supply because a good deal was going on. As with many internet purchases, a day or two later there will be an even better deal to entice you to keep shopping. That’s the power of technology. So, I was annoyed to see an even better deal pop up after I had made my purchases but then figured that we use it so I may as well take advantage of the new sweet offer and pick up some more soaps.

Then I had an idea. A wonderfully happy idea. I would pick up lots of soaps and give them away on my blog. Fabulous!

So that is how this giveaway started, with some late summer/early fall scented soaps. With the theme in place, I set to putting the gift together and thought that canning and veggie decorated dish towels were fun for this time of year as well as some seasonal plant smells in candle form. Add some S’Mores candy corn because I was not ready to get the real candy corn yet and I had me a giveaway. Two giveaways to be exact.

So, remember to get your comment posted to have a chance to find a fabulous gift package arriving just for you! The giveaway ends this Saturday.

Happy Labor Day!

Two years ago I celebrated “Labor” day and as a result we welcomed a new baby boy! It was very fitting.

September 1st has lots to celebrate and we are still gloriously sporting summer weather here in the Midwest, although the shadows hint that it is late summer. Late summer has its own smells and tastes and I am giving away some goodies to celebrate this time year.

There are 2 sets of these items and relatives and friends are also eligible to join in the fun along with everyone – for those of you who did not think that you could…except for my hubby…

Giveaway – “Time for Treats!”

(But not ‘Trick or Treats’…I am not ready for that!)

The fun part about hosting a “Giveaway” when you run a gift ideas blog is that I get to pick from the vast selection of ideas that I have posted about.

The tricky part about hosting a “Giveaway” when you run a gift ideas blog is that I get to pick from the vast selection of ideas that I have posted about.

Tricky, tricky.

There are just sooo many fabulously fresh and thoughtful ideas to choose from (yes, I am biased). I know that I cannot just wrap up all of it, but I would, if I could.

I did mention at one point that I would consider the Chocolate Gift Basket from Stonewall Kitchen when I posted about it because it looked so yummy. So, I considered it. Then I reconsidered it.

Then I decided.

You all know that I enjoy putting thoughtful gifts together so just giving you a premade basket did not sound fun for me. But…choosing my own items to give you DID sound fun, so that is what I did!

Here is an idea of how you can use them at your 4th of July celebration to impress your guests and make it easy to serve. You could also give them away as gifts to your guests.

IMGP7510 IMGP7515 IMGP7518

Now, I must explain this “Good Old-Fashioned Giveaway”. This will be the only giveaway that has sooo much chatting going on. The consecutive giveaways will be more straightforward. I feel the need to “explain” the deal here.

There is no such thing any more as an old-fashioned giveaway, or even any “giveaway” as far as the law is concerned.

“Who invited the law any ways?”, you ask?

The law is a party crasher, a bit of a party pooper.

One thing lead to another while cruising the web, as always, and I started to see that there were rules to giving away items by bloggers, so I investigated.

I would prefer not to break the law.

This is what I discovered in a nutshell.

Legally, there is no such thing as a “giveaway”. In this instance, it has to be called a “sweepstakes”.

Boring.

That is not a fun term. “Giveaway” is a fun term.

There are also all sorts of rules on who is eligible, like how old you are and where you live. The law is one of those guests at the party that asks “those” kinds of questions…”So…what do you do for a living?”…

I also have to tell you in excruciating detail about the gift to be given away and everything and anything that pertains to it. TMI – too much information – it’s a gift for crying out loud!

You have to agree that you read these here laws and rules and agree to abide. If this is illegal in your state, you cannot come to the party.

Now, people are starting to leave the party. The law is taking all of the fun out of it.

And blah, blah, blah. You can read about it in my “Sweepstakes Rules” section at the end of this post because I plan to give the law what they need but then they can go sit in the kitchen for the rest of the party. They can check in on us any time they want to see if we are following the rules but they cannot hang around if they are going to act like that. I plan to follow the rules AND still have fun.

Like I teach my wee ones, there is always a solution.

So, in thinking about the “sadness” in the loss of a “Good Old-Fashioned Giveaway” due to legal mumbo jumbo, (which I guess we all probably brought on ourselves at some point in history), it brought me to the idea of giving away an “old-fashioned gift”.

Oooo…now I am getting excited again. Excited because I made a promise to you a while back and now I could make good on that promise and include it in my “sweepstakes”.

There, I said it.

“Sweepstakes”.

Yup, still boring. I am not Publisher’s Clearinghouse ya know.

My promise regarded Balls’ Heritage Blue Mason Jars that commemorated their 100th year of making the Mason Jar last year.

Perfect!

When I shared them as a gift idea prematurely, I said then in that post that I would still come up with something exciting to do with the Blue Mason Jar from the Heritage line. Well, this is it!

(Do you remember that I was going to save them for a 4th of July gift idea rollout but then I saw that they introduced a Green Mason Jar to the Heritage line this year and I was so excited that I couldn’t wait to tell you? Do you remember that? If not, click here.)

My giveaway is the Blue Heritage Mason Jar, which fulfills my promise to excite you with the blue jars again AND it is an “old-fashioned gift” to start my gift giving moments to you as well as make a statement about the loss of “old-fashioned giveaways”.

I love when it works like that!
