What I am working with…

Any time that I take photos at home to share on this blog or my recipe blog I have “the background” to contend with.

There is not one space in my home that does not have toys, kid items or my own “projects in process” appearing in the background. And you do not notice it until you have taken the shot.

Here is a recent one when I was taking photos of a cake recipe. Lighting can be an issue so I was trying to work off of the kitchen table where I had more natural light.

There are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hanging out in the background, along with Matchbox cars, markers & construction paper for “thank you notes” from a recent birthday, my cake container, gifts that I need to send out and my napkin basket. And behind that layer, I can assure you is another layer of “stuff” and even more behind that one!
