Cold season has struck early this year, but at least the threat of the Midwest Virus that the media is shouting about is really no different than every other virus that comes around during cold season each year – according to my pediatrician’s office. Not that any virus is pleasant but it is not the end of life as we know it, as I was fearing.
A family of 5 with colds makes for a longggg round of colds in my house. It’s better when I do not get it but I was in the loop this time around. The end of the cold is the biggest problem because it always ends up in the chest and causes breathing issues and coughing fits. By this time we are all pretty cranky too.
Often, I find myself holed up in a small bathroom with the hot shower running to make hot steam for one or all of my muffins to breathe in to help break up the chest congestion. (Note: we are not actually IN the hot scalding water. That would cause more problems than chest congestion.)
Each time I do this I feel like Frosty the Snowman when he ended up in the greenhouse with Karen.
I like heat but somehow that hot steamy air is stifling and the cool air that rushes over me when I open the door to free myself always elicits an “Ahhhhhh…” and then I think of Frosty as I walk in his shoes for a moment, so to speak, since snowmen do not wear shoes.
Or walk.
Do they?
If you have read “Snowmen at Night” or “Snowmen at Christmas” you might believe differently!

And ugh…here is that crazy flash again that I forget automatically comes on whenever I switch camera modes…but it did make a bit of a white snowman!

We have not read that one yet and I saw that there are more than I thought when I was looking for the link to the one in my blog. Fun! The illustrations make me really believe that something is going on at night…I love it too!
